oronto commercial and personal services lawyer, Seher Goderya, and her colleagues at Basman Smith LLP showed their continued support for Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter and its members at the organization’s annual fundraising gala event, recently held at the Carlu in Toronto. On April 12, lawyers from the firm attended the 22nd Annual Ernestine’s Affair, in support of the life-saving work at Etobicoke-based Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter — a 32-bed shelter for women and children fleeing violence, which helps them to rebuild their lives by linking them with a range of support services. Over the last three decades, Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter has helped more than 5,000 families access critical care services, including 91 children and 51 women in the last year alone. Apart from immediate crisis services, the shelter also assists clients with safety and transitional planning as they attempt to move on following their escape from an abusive environment.
