Wendy carries on a Wills, Trusts, and Estates and related Tax Planning practice. Her extensive’ experience in private practice and both the accounting and financial services sector has uniquely qualified her to offer a comprehensive range of legal services. Her industry experience includes a position as Vice President Wealth Transfer and Estate Planning with BMO Financial Group, and as a Tax Manager at an International Chartered Accounting Firm. Her practice includes all aspects of estate planning and administration and related tax planning. Her clients include individuals, small business, non-profit organizations and financial institutions.
Wendy is currently the past (2011-2012) Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Wills and Trusts Section (National Executive) and served on the executive of the Ontario Bar Association. She founded the national section newsletter, The Last Word, and supported and participated in professional development programs. Wendy spearheading a CBA proposal to develop a five day intensive National Course in Estate Planning which had its inaugural launch in the fall of 2015.
Wendy was active in designing the content and strategy for the four course diploma program for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners of Canada (STEP). Wendy has written three of the four academic and practice texts for STEP to be used in the diploma program offered by STEP. These include: Trust and Estate Planning, STEP 2011, Wills and Estate & Trust Administration, STEP, 2010, and Taxation of Trusts & Estates in Canada, STEP 2010. Wendy continues to work with STEP, setting and marking exams, delivering student tutorials, and updating the content of the books, and the online student questions and answers.
Wendy has written, lectured and published extensively on estate and tax issues for a number of professional and academic organizations including The Law Society of Upper Canada, STEP, CBA, OBA, the Canadian Tax Foundation, University of Toronto (School of Business, now Rotman School of Management) and Osgoode Hall Law School (Continuing Education Program).
